Maritime Museum at Albert Dock




 Liverpool was one of the World's greatest seaports for over two hundred year. It  had an important role as a gateway to the new world.


The Maritime is a National Museum based in a warehouse  at the Albert Dock The museum looks at the  social and commercial history of shipping, which shipping companies existed and how and when ships were built.


 It opened in 1980 and was expaneded in 1986. This museum has many displays which includes ship models and maritime paintings. 


Currently they have an exhibition about the Titanic, which tells the story of Liverpool's involment in it's fatal accident.The gallery also looks at Liverpool's  Lusitania and Empress of Ireland. All three ships sank and within three years of each other between 1912 and 1915.


On the third floor you can find the International Slavery Museum and in the basement you can find the Border and Customs  exhibition.
